Sellers often ask me, “Should we sell the place furnished?”
I know it’s tempting, especially when you’re downsizing or relocating somewhere warm where our midwestern furnishings aren’t the jam. But the gist of it is, unless your home is an Airbnb, people want it unfurnished and that means totally cleared out at closing unless you’ve offered some pre-negotiated pieces ahead of time. Really common things that we see in that category would be kitchen island or bar stools. But if you’re not taking something with you and we recommended removing it for staging at the walkthrough, it’s time to sell it. I’ve got many sources to help with that or donate if needed.
