I know it’s super stressful to get out of the house for showings especially with kids and pets. I’ve totally been there. But don’t worry, there are some tricks to make it easier:
First, have a very regular cleaning service. You’ll have enough to do to get out of the house that you don’t need to worry about how clean things are besides a quick wipe down.
Second, clear out all your closets more than you think you need to. People want to see how deep they are. They want to be able to move around in them if they’re walking. They should be about half full if you can swing it. Plus, this gives you places to stash things that you don’t want out for showings. While you’re at it, also clean out from under the kitchen sink. People are walking through your home and visioning their new life. They don’t need to see work items out when they’re thinking about this new lifestyle. So, make room for soap, dishes, hand soap, scrubber, paper towels under the sink for showings.
Third, grab a couple laundry baskets. Keep them on the ready. These are awesome for grabbing shoes and mail piles. Just throw all the stuff in the laundry basket and then hide it in one of your clean closets or corner of the garage or even the back of your car.
Little things make a huge difference when selling. So, it’s super important to take a couple extra minutes to make things as perfect as possible.
